University of South Carolina athletic director Eric Hyman has been picked as the next AD at Texas A&M, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Hyman is set to join the Aggies just as they make their move from the Big 12 to the SEC, a move that will be official Sunday. He will replace Bill Bryne, who retired last month.

He is under contract with South Carolina through 2015 after receiving a raise last summer of $75,000 per year. Last fall, Hyman was a leading candidate to become the AD at his alma mater, North Carolina, but removed his name from consideration early in the process.

?I am honored to be considered by my alma mater, North Carolina, but my work here has not been finished and I love being a Gamecock.?

Since taking the South Carolina job in 2005, Hyman has overseen the football program?s turn-around into national relevance, as well as two College World Series titles in 2010 and 2011.
