PTT Aims to Become Asean's Top Brand By 2015

Thailand?s largest petroleum corporation, PTT, reveals its ambition to propel itself as Asean?s top brand within 2015, reports Thai News Agency (TNA).

PTT?s president Prasert Bunsumpun said the company was poised to take advantage of economic integration under Asean Economic Community in line with its business expansion in other Asean countries.

Prasert also said PTT was aiming to become one of the largest companies in terms of market share in each country it operates in gasoline service.

From 6-7 gas stations each in Cambodia and Laos, PTT is eyeing to increase the number to 40-50 in the near future. Non-oil businesses like coffee shops would also be facilitating gas station operation.

Meanwhile, the PTT president acknowledged that cooperation on LNG trade between PTT and Japan?s Tokyo Gas was disrupted by the twin disasters in March, but insisted PTT was finding other business partners to ensure sufficient supply of LNG to feed rising domestic demand for LNG.

From its current capacity in importing LNG at five million tonnes a year, PTT would also increase its storage and refinery facility to handle up to 10 million tonnes of LNG within five years.

PTT, a state-owned listed oil and gas company, was commonly associated with electricity generation, petrochemical products, oil and gas exploration and production.
